Rai University was established in 2012 under Gujarat Act No. 12 of 2012, authorized by the Gujarat State Legislature. It is empowered to confer degrees as per Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, and holds membership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In 2023, the university was acquired by the Espire Group, under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Amit Rai.
