AN Industrial Visit to West-Coast Pharmaceutical Works LTD on 12th April 2024
The industrial visit to “WEST-COAST PHARMACEUTICAL WORKS LTD” on April 12th, 2024, organized by Rai University’s School of Pharmacy, proved to be an invaluable experience for the 47 participating students and faculty members. Led by Mr. Kiran Desai, HR at the plant, the visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into pharmaceutical industrial operations and enhance their understanding of various processes.
Upon arrival, students were briefed on safety measures, including protocols for entry, attire, and conduct within the premises. The visit encompassed different areas of the facility, each offering unique learning opportunities. In the storage area, students gained awareness of safe chemical handling and storage practices. In the production segment, they observed first-hand the formulation of tablets, granules, and syrups, while the packaging area elucidated the meticulous process of material packing and blister packaging.
Quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) departments provided insights into ensuring product safety and compliance with regulatory standards. Stability studies further enlightened students on the importance of product durability and testing protocols. Additionally, the storage room showcased the logistics of storing finished products and managing export processes.
The visit culminated with refreshments at the canteen, fostering informal interactions and networking among students and industry professionals. The immersive experience yielded several learning outcomes. Firstly, students gained practical knowledge in pharmaceutical formulation, reinforcing theoretical concepts. Secondly, exposure to stringent quality standards and regulatory compliance emphasized the industry’s commitment to product safety and efficacy.
