Report on climate change youth outreach fortnight programme

World Ozone day is celebrated globally on 16th September every year. This day is celebrated to create awareness about the importance of Ozone layer in human, preventive measures and threat that whole humanity is facing Ozone depletion. This year this day is celebrated by Climate Change Department, Govt. of Gujarat by organizing webinar from 16th to 30th Sept. Along with this for creating awareness among youth regarding preventive methods of Ozone depletion, climate change youth outreach fortnight programme also organized where all colleges and University can take part by participating in five events as suggested. As per the Ref: Circular No. DTE/Climate change/12C3/2022/8064 dated 14-09-2022 from the office of Commissionerate of Higher Education and Directorate of Technical Education (Gujarat) (DTE), Rai University has also planned to take part in the programme.

Dr. Dhanya J S has been appointed (on 20/09/2022) as Nodal Officer by Rai School of Sciences for the smooth coordination of conducting five events as per themes suggested by Climate Change Department, Govt. of Gujarat from all the six Rai Schools. [Dr.Dhanya J S name is added in WhatsApp group “Nodal Officers youth-5”, all information (such as google links, steps to follow etc.) obtained to the nodal officers via this group].

In continuation of this,

A) On 21/09/2022 at 09:15 - 09:30 am, a meeting was scheduled with all Rai schools HODs.
Agenda: Discussion of the programme, selecting coordinators from each school.
Outcome: Cordinators selected as: 1) Rai School of Sciences- Ms. Nareshvari Chovatiya, 2) Rai School of Management- Mr. Yuvrajsinh Rathod, 3) Rai School of Law- Dr. Nita Solanki, 4) Rai School of Engineering- Ms. Vaishali Mahavar, 5) Rai School of Pharmacy- Ms. Jankhana Bharaiya & 6) Rai School of Liberal Studies- Ms. Preeti Das.

B) On the same day at 10:45-11:00 am, a meeting is scheduled with concerned school coordinators for the discussion about the event and assigned individual duties (such as informing students, collecting participation names etc.). For coordinators a google link is shared via WhatsApp group “Nodal Officers youth-5”, using this link all the coordinators are registered separately.

C) For finalizing the date of conducting the programme, another meeting was arranged with coordinators and confirmed the date (27/09/2022), time (10:00 am onwards) slot of five activities and venue (A1 block seminar hall).

In this regard Rai university has circulated a notice (Ref: RU/AHD/RSS/NOTICE/2022/01) on 22/09/2022 stating the full details of the event and responsibilities of the coordinators. Also, as per the instruction received in the WhatsApp group “Nodal Officers youth-5”, the same notice is uploaded by nodal officer using a given google link.

After generating the circular from the University, a list of arrangements needed for conducting, banner, and participation certificate of the program request has been submitted to concerned authorities via HOD (Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh). The nodal officer has checked all arrangements and made it event friendly by 26/09/2022.

On the event date (27/09/2022), all staff (for coordination at event place) as well as the students of the University were encouraged to participate in maximum activities and the corresponding record is taken as a list of participants, photography etc. At the beginning of the event, Dr. Dhanya explained about the climate change event and the importance of Ozone day to the students. She also give a brief ideas about all the five activities and the time slots for it. Students showed great enthusiasm to be a part of the events and successfully accomplished their goal. All the responses from students are collected and handed over to concerned coordinators. The event gets over by 03:00 pm, after that as per instruction from HOD (Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh), all coordinators prepared a winner list as suggested by Climate Change Department, Govt. of Gujarat. On next day (28/09/2022) the no: of participants, winners list, winning title, photo and brief report of the event was uploaded via google link provided in the WhatsApp group “Nodal Officers youth-5”. The event is organized by Rai School of Sciences and from all the events participants are awarded with participation certificate. The programme ended with a vote of thanks. A detailed report of the program is generated and submitted to HOD (Mr. Pradeep Kumar Singh) along with supporting records/documents.
