Five Day National Faculty Development Programme On “REVALUATING THE LAWS AND RESEARCH PARADIGMS IN NEW INDIA” (Online Mode) on 22 - 26th July,2024

About the Event:

The National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Reevaluating the Laws and Research Paradigms in New India” aims to equip faculty members with a comprehensive understanding of the evolving legal landscape and research methodologies pertinent to contemporary India. This programme is designed to foster critical thinking, enhance teaching skills, and promote interdisciplinary research among legal educators, Faculty members, Professionals and Research Scholar.

PROGRAMME SCHEDULE:

This National FDP aims at the process of critically examining and updating the legal frameworks and research methodologies to align with the rapidly changing socio-economic and technological landscape of India. This involves a thorough analysis of existing laws, identifying areas that require reform, and adopting new approaches to legal research that reflect the current realities and future challenges. Dates: July 22 – July 26, 2024

The National Faculty Development Programme, hosted by the School of Law (SOL), Rai University, was held from July 22 to July 26, 2024. The event was designed to enhance faculty skills and knowledge in various areas of law and academia. The programme featured a series of technical sessions led by esteemed experts and scholars, providing valuable insights into contemporary issues and advancements in the field.

Day 1: July 22, 2024

Day 1 the inauguration ceremony began with the Saraswati Vandana, a traditional invocation seeking blessings for the success of the event. Before the inaugural address, Hon’ble Provost, Dr. Anil Tomar, Rai University welcomed the participants and the guest speaker on behalf of Rai University, folloed the inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Ausaf Ahmad Malik, Principal of the School of Law, who emphasized the significance of continuous faculty development and outlined the programme’s objectives.

The first technical session, led by Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Yadav, Director, Amity University, Lucknow, focused on the changing facets of federalism in 21st century in India. The session included a detailed analysis of constitutional amendments and their implications on governance. A dynamic question-and-answer session followed, engaging participants in a thoughtful discussion. The day concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Yamini Bisht, Assistant Professor at SOL, who acknowledged the contributions of the speaker and the active involvement of the audience.

Day 2: July 23, 2024

On the second day of the National Faculty Development Programme, Mr. Abhilash Aggarwal, Assistant Professor at the School of Law (SOL), commenced the proceedings with a welcome address. He extended a warm reception to all participants and introduced the theme of the day’s. The spotlight of the day was a presentation by Prof. (Dr.) Md. Asad Malik, Professor, Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Prof. Malik’s focused on the enforcement of the new criminal code in India, specifically the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023.

In this session Prof. Malik’s provided a comprehensive analysis of the BNSS 2023, a landmark piece of legislation aimed at overhauling the criminal justice framework in India. He meticulously examined the various facets of the BNSS, including its objectives, key provisions, and the anticipated changes to criminal procedure and enforcement. The presentation highlighted the BNSS’s potential to reform criminal justice by introducing more stringent measures and procedural enhancements designed to ensure greater efficiency and fairness in legal processes. Prof. Malik elucidated how the BNSS aims to address contemporary issues within the criminal justice system, such as delays in justice and procedural inconsistencies.

Following the presentation, the session transitioned into an engaging question-and-answer segment. Participants took this opportunity to delve deeper into the practical implications of the BNSS. Questions revolved around the challenges of implementing the new code, its impact on existing legal practices, and the anticipated benefits for both law enforcement agencies and the judiciary. The interactive discussion allowed participants to express concerns and seek clarifications, fostering a deeper understanding of the new legal framework.

The day was concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Yamini Bisht, Assistant Professor at SOL. Ms. Bisht expressed her gratitude to Prof. Malik for his insightful and thorough presentation, which shed light on a critical aspect of criminal law reform. She also acknowledged the active participation of the attendees, whose thoughtful questions and discussions contributed to the richness of the session. Day 3: July 24, 2024

The third day welcome address presented by Prof. (Dr.) Ausaf Ahmad Malik, setting the tone for the day’s technical session. Prof. (Dr.) Kahkashan Y. Danyal, Dean, Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, addressed on the topic of “One Nation One Election: the long standing debate of New India” exploring the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of simultaneous elections in India. The session included a historical perspective and its potential impact on the democratic process. The subsequent question-and-answer session provided a platform for participants to discuss the implications of simultaneous elections and address concerns related to governance. The day was wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Ms. Yamini Bisht, who recognized the contributions of Prof. Danyal and the active engagement of attendees.

Day 4: July 25, 2024

The fourth day commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Dinesh Kumar Mishra, Assistant Professor at SOL to all participants and speaker of the day. Dr. Mohd. Shakil S. Malek, Campus Director and Principal, F.D. (MUBIN) Institute of Engineering and Technology, Gujarat, led the last technical session on “Effective Use of Technology in Teaching and Research.” Dr. Malek highlighted innovative technological tools and their applications in enhancing teaching and research outcomes. The session included a question-and-answer segment where participants discussed practical applications of technology in their academic practices. The programme concluded with a valedictory function, celebrating the successful completion of the event and acknowledging the contributions of all involved.

Day 5: July 26, 2024

In the last day of the program Ms. Prachi Tripathi delivered the welcome address to all, introducing the focus of the session. Prof. (Dr.) Vedvyas J. Dwivedi, Executive Vice President, Indus University, Gujarat, conducted a session on “Leadership and Management in Academia.” He shared valuable insights into effective leadership strategies, managing academic institutions, and fostering academic excellence. The session was followed by a question-and-answer period where participants explored leadership challenges and management strategies in academia. The day concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Nita Solanki, Associate Professor at SOL, who appreciated Prof. Dwivedi’s contributions and the active participation of the attendees. She delivered the final vote of thanks, summarizing the key takeaways and expressing gratitude to the speakers, organizers, and participants. The feedback session provided valuable insights and suggestions for future improvements.
