Heritage Site Visit by Rai University on 24th February 2024
On the 24th of February 2024, Rai University, Ahmedabad, organized a Heritage Site Visit to the renowned “Adalaj Step Well” in Adalaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Conducted by the Industry Interaction Cell (IIC), SSIP, and Rai School of Management Studies, the visit aimed to provide 39 students and one faculty member with a profound opportunity to explore and appreciate the historical and cultural significance of this architectural marvel. The primary objective was to enhance their knowledge and understanding of India’s rich heritage while fostering a sense of pride in our cultural legacy.
The visit commenced at 9:30 AM, and the group reached the Adalaj Step Well at approximately 10:40 AM. The step well, also known as Adalaj Vav, is a five-story structure built in the 15th century, showcasing intricate carvings and a unique hydraulic system that exemplifies Indo-Islamic architecture.
During the visit, students had the chance to explore the step well’s breath-taking architecture, intricate carvings, and understand the symbolism behind them. Interaction with local experts and historians enriched their experience as they delved into the cultural and historical significance of the site. Engaging in discussions and asking questions deepened their understanding, and the visit also provided ample photography opportunities for documentation and sharing experiences.
