World Population Day on 11th July, 2024
Rai School of Sciences organized an inspiring drawing competition on July 11, in observance of World Population Day, which brought together students from diverse disciplines to express their perspectives on population issues through art. The event aimed to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities presented by the world's growing population, hence the theme of the competition was ‘Our World, Our Future: Raising Awareness on Population Issues’. With over 20 participants formed in total 7 teams, the competition saw a remarkable display of creativity and thought-provoking artwork, each piece reflecting unique viewpoints on sustainability, resource management, and the impact of population growth on our planet.
The judging panel, comprising esteemed heads, Dr. Sandip Chandra and Mr. Dinkar Kumawat; and Mr. Meet from the different departments, had the challenging task of evaluating the submissions. They assessed the drawings based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and the message conveyed. The winning entries stood out for their innovative approaches and profound messages. First place was awarded to a striking piece depicting the delicate balance between human activity and nature by Team of Vasaya Sameer, Rahul Kumar and Kothivar Harshal; while second place went to artworks of Team of Koli Karan, Goswami Dhvanil and Sanjay Odedara; and third to Natasha Chikodzore highlighting themes of urbanization and global resource distribution.
The event concluded with the remarkable words of speech by the respected judges, where the winners were celebrated and participants were appreciated for their exceptional contributions. The drawings of winners will be displayed in the corridors of the School for the next month, providing an opportunity for the entire campus community to engage with these important issues. The success of the competition underscores the power of art in fostering dialogue and raising awareness about critical global challenges, and it reaffirms our university's commitment to promoting sustainability and social responsibility.
