Prof. KC Santosh is the Chair of the Department of Computer Science at the University of South Dakota (USD). Before joining USD, Prof. Santosh worked as a research fellow at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Institutes of Health (NIH). He was a postdoctoral research scientist at the LORIA research centre (with industrial partner, ITESOFT (France)). He has demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, image processing and data mining with applications, such as medical imaging informatics, document imaging, biometrics, forensics, and speech analysis. His research projects are funded by multiple agencies, such as SDCRGP, Department of Education, National Science Foundation, and Asian Office of Aerospace Research and Development. He is the proud recipient of the Cutler Award for Teaching and Research Excellence (USD, 2021), the President's Research Excellence Award (USD, 2019), and the Ignite Award from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (2014).

Dr. Mohammad Shojafar

Mohammad Shojafar is Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) and Intel Innovator working in the 6G Innovation Centre (6GIC) at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom. Before joining to 6GIC, he was a Marie Curie Fellow working on MSCA Global Fellowship “PRISENODE” in SPRITZ Security and Privacy Research group at the University of Padua, Italy. Also, he was a Senior Researcher at the Ryerson University, Toronto (Canada) for 10 months working on network security project at the Telus Communications (TELUS) in 2019. He was a Senior Researcher in SPRITZ Security and Privacy Research group at the University of Padua, Italy in 2018. Also, he was CNIT Senior Researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata contributed on 5GPPP European H2020 “SUPERFLUIDITY” project. Mohammad was contributed to some Italian projects named “SAMMClouds”, “V-FoG”, “PRIN15” projects aim to address some of the open issues related to the Software as a Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) systems in Cloud and Fog computing. He received the Ph.D. degree from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, in 2016 with an “Excellent” degree. His current research focuses on network security and privacy (5G network), distributed computing/systems, cloud data center, and fog computing. He published over 120 refereed articles is prestigious venues such as IEEE TCC, IEEE TNSM, IEEE TII, IEEE T-ITS, IEEE IoTJ, IEEE Network, FGCS, INFOCOM, and ICC. He was a programmer and software analyzer at National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Tidewater ltd in Iran from 2008-2013, respectively. He is an Associate Editor in IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IET Communication, and Cluster Computing Journals. He is Senior Member of IEEE and Professional member of ACM.

Dr. Asfar Azmi
Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology, Wayne State University School of Medicine
Dr. Asfar Azmi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology, Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is the Co-Leader of Tumor Biology and Microenvironment Program and the Director of Pancreas Cancer Research Program at Karmanos Cancer Institute. He is also cancer biology graduate faculty at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His work broadly focuses on designing, developing and testing new small molecule drugs in a wide variety of cancers. Dr. Azmi has made significant contributions in the area of pre-clinical and clinical development of nuclear export inhibitor selinexor. Work done by his team led to the FDA approval of selinexor in multiple myeloma and Non-Hodgkin’s lymhoma. Dr. Azmi is part of several ongoing trials on selinexor. Dr. Azmi has published more than 100 peer reviewed articles. These publications are in prestigious journals such as Gastroenterology, Clinical Cancer Research, Oncogene, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Nature Reviews Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Seminars in Cancer Biology. He has edited several books on drug discovery topics. He has also edited many thematic issues on cancer related topics for Seminars in Cancer Biology. He is the recipient of NIH MERIT award, Wayne State Academy of Scholar Young Investigator Award, Young Investigator Award from American Society of Hematology, American Pancreatic Association and Young Investigator Award from AACR. He has received college teaching award from Wayne State and Heroes of Cancer award from Karmanos Cancer Institute. Dr. Azmi has developed several graduate level cancer drug discovery courses and has mentored many clinical fellows, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. He has received excellence in postdoctoral mentoring award. Majority of these trainees have progressed from his lab into independent faculty positions. His lab has been continuously funded by NIH and pharmaceutical industry.
